On April 7th and 8th, a team of students went to Washington D.C. to present the GIS Enabled Green Infrastructure Design Tool. This team was one of 31 teams nationwide that was able to receive a Phase l grant through the EPA People, Prosperity, and the Planet (P3) grants program. Team members were chosen based on their skill sets and departmental/research background. Student members of the team included Ashton Greer (Student Lead) , Clint Smith, and Aaron Blackwell from the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering; Miriam Khanam from the Department of Geography; Bingqing Lu from the Geology Department; and Max Livingston from the Department of Computer Sciences and the Center for Advanced Public Safety. Guilherme Brunow Gomes from the Center for Advance Public Safety also attended. Dr. Andrew Graettinger was the Principal Investigator on the project and Dr. Sagy Cohen, Dr. Mark Elliott, and Dr. Robert Pitt were all co-Principal Investigators. Everyone had a great time attending the P3 expo which partnered with the USA Science & Engineering Festival. We hope to be continuing with Phase ll funding in the future!
